The 9 Blades Wielded by Roronoa Zoro

Roronoa Zoro is the Straw Hat Pirates' fighter and one of the strongest members of the crew, second only to Monkey D. Luffy. Zoro wants to become the strongest swordsman in the world of One Piece, and to achieve this, he has set his sights on defeating the current holder of that title, Dracule Mihawk.

As a master swordsman, Roronoa Zoro has wielded a large number of different blades in One Piece, some of which were only with him for a few moments, while others have been in his possession for years. Here are the 9 blades that Roronoa Zoro has wielded in One Piece.

Normal double katana

Roronoa Zoro has always been a user of the famous Santoryu, also known as the Three-Sword Style. Having received the Wado Ichimonji from Koshiro, Zoro still needed two more swords to complete the figures, and for this, Zoro initially used two katanas ordinary.

During his fight against Dracule Mihawk, both of these katanas ended up breaking. Since the Wado Ichimonji was an O-grade Wazamono sword, it was able to withstand the powerful blow Mihawk delivered to Roronoa Zoro.

Johnny and Yosaku's swords

After losing his swords to Mihawk, Zoro needed to find a quick replacement in order to perform his famous Three-Sword Style techniques. While the team was fighting at Arlong Park, Zoro temporarily borrowed Johnny and Yosaku's swords.

We see him fighting Hachi with his swords. Although Zoro only fought Fishman for a short time, it was because the wound Mihawk inflicted was still fresh. Due to Zoro's carelessness, the wound eventually reopened.

Wado Ichimonji

The Wado Ichimonji is an O-grade Wazamono sword that Zoro received from Koshiro. Originally, this sword was meant to be passed on to Kuina, a girl from Zoro's dojo whom he lost in 2001. Due to Kuina's untimely death, Zoro took possession of the Wado Ichimonji instead, vowing to become the world's greatest swordsman.

To this day, Roronoa Zoro still carries this sword, and it's likely he'll continue to wield it until he defeats Dracule Mihawk. During the time skip, Zoro's control over his powers developed magnificently, and it will improve even further after the events in Wano Country.

Yubashiri

One of Roronoa Zoro's first swords, the Yubashiri, was given to him by Ipponmatsu, who was impressed by his courage during the Logue Town arc of One Piece. A Ryo Wazamono-grade sword, the Yubashiri was an extremely powerful weapon, though not among the finest in the series. In terms of handling, the Yubashiri proved to be a rather obedient sword, unlike some of the other swords Zoro wielded.

Unfortunately, Yubashiri was eventually destroyed by Shu, one of the Marine captains, during the Buster Call at Enies Lobby. Zoro paid homage to the sword after the events of the Thriller Bark arc and later replaced it with another sword.

Sandai Kitetsu

The Sandai Kitetsu is another of Zoro's powerful blades that he acquired in Logue Town. However, unlike Yubashiri, the Sandai Kitetsu is a lower-quality sword, belonging to the Wazamono family. Compared to Yubashiri, this sword is particularly difficult to master, according to Roronoa Zoro. This is likely because the Sandai Kitetsu is a cursed blade, belonging to the cursed Kitetsu sword family.

However, as with any other blade, it doesn't take long for him to assert his dominance over it. So far, Zoro has wielded this sword and used its bloodthirsty abilities to slice through those who stood in his way.

Shusui

Shusui, one of the most powerful swords in the entire One Piece series, was once wielded by the renowned samurai Shimotsuki Ryuma. After his death, the sword, along with Ryuma's body, was stolen by Moria, who then used it to bolster his army. After facing Roronoa Zoro, Ryuma was impressed by his bravery and ultimately gifted him the sword.

The Shusui is one of only 21 O-grade Wazamono swords, making it extremely rare. Furthermore, it is classified as a Kokuto (black blade), making it more powerful than an ordinary sword!

Seppuku Blade

Roronoa Zoro found himself in trouble moments after the start of the Wano Country arc, where he was framed for murder. He was ordered to commit seppuku and given a short blade without a tanto. As expected, instead of killing himself, Zoro used this blade to slaughter everyone in his path, including the magistrate, who was the real culprit.

Zoro's control over this Seppuku blade was magnificent, despite its short length and difficulty. He could even use Haki on it, further enhancing his powers.

Kamazo's scythe

Once again, Zoro found himself without a sword during the Wano Country arc when Gyukimaru stole Shusui from him. While attempting to retrieve his sword, Zoro was intercepted by a man known as Kamazo the Man-Killer, who was later revealed to be the killer of the Kid Pirates.

To finish him off, Zoro takes possession of one of his scythes and uses it to perform a Purgatory Onigiri, slicing Kamazo. However, Zoro lost too much blood during the fight and ended up fainting.

Enma

Enma was one of the swords of the legendary samurai Kozuki Oden of Wano Country. Along with Ame no Habakiri, Oden used this sword to practice his special style, "Oden Nitoryu." After his death, his blades were passed down to his children. Kozuki Momonosuke received Ame no Habakiri, while Kozuki Hiyori received Enma, which she then passed on to Roronoa Zoro, who had just brought Shusui back to Wano Country.

Enma is an extremely powerful sword, considered a blade that only a select few are capable of wielding. This sword has the ability to draw all the Haki from its user's body. Consequently, the blows delivered by this sword are far more powerful than expected unless properly controlled. Zoro has trained to achieve perfect control of Enma and appears to have succeeded.
