Today, we're going to talk about one of the most beloved characters in the entire country. A character who impresses with his power and charisma.
We are of course talking about Roronoa Zoro, THE second in command of the Straw Hat crew. He has so many incredible moments all to himself that we had to make a top list about him, so check out our Top 10 most badass moments of Zoro.
10. Zoro vs. the Baroque Works

To begin this ranking, we chose a pivotal event in the Zoro myth. Remember, just after leaving the Twin Capes inhabited by Crocus and Laboon, the’Straw Hat crew takes one of the seven waterways of the Grand Line under the guidance of Vivi, then a member of the Baroque Works organization. The crew heads towards Whiskey Peak. At first glance, the island seems like a pirate's paradise, offering them everything: food, money, shelter, and even women. But when the crew falls asleep or becomes drunk, the inhabitants reveal themselves to be dangerous assassins from Baroque Works. And it turns out that all the peaks on the mountain are actually the graves of murdered pirates.
While everyone sleeps, the massacre will begin. Everyone asleep, really? Well, no, Zoro is there, in the moonlight, more discreet than his assassins and, above all, with a greater thirst for blood. He will then commit an unparalleled massacre and inflict upon them the same fate the assassins reserved for the Straw Hats; he will even arrest those who were supposed to be the elite of this island., Mr. 8 And Miss Monday. It is said that during that night, He killed 100 bounty hunters all by himself. And that reputation still follows him today.
9. Zoro cuts a ship in two on the Sabaody Archipelago

For ninth place on this list, we've selected one of my favorite scenes with Zoro. Right after the time skip, the crew has to reunite on the’Sabaody Archipelago In order to reach Fish-Man Island, Zoro, who arrived first for once, is bored and decides to go fishing, but he boards the wrong boat. Instead of a rowboat, he climbs onto a pirate galleon and finds himself headed for Fish-Man Island. He quickly wakes up and, realizing his mistake, decides to go back up. And to do that, he will slice the boat in two. With this passage, we have everything we love, a Zoro who gets lost, who gets angry and who cuts through everything in its path and yet, stays super classy.
For us, this moment is very important because it perfectly mirrors Mihawk's first appearance when he sliced through Don Krieg's galleon. Here, Oda wants to show us that Zoro has significantly closed the gap between himself and his mentor.
8. Zoro vs. Ryuma

The scene that takes 8th place in our ranking is none other than the epic fight against the legendary samurai of Wano Kuni Ryuma on Thriller Bark. As a reminder, the crew has just arrived in Florian's Triangle, known as the pirate graveyard. Events unfold very quickly; they encounter Brook, living skeletons without shadows, and are then captured by the ship of Gecko Moria, the former Warlord of the Sea or Shichibukai Thriller Bark. Almost the entire crew loses their shadows to him, as he transfers them into inanimate bodies to create... zombies, The crew will then try to retrieve these shadows, and Zoro will want to retrieve Brook's shadow, which had been inserted into a legendary samurai. Ryuma, known for having cut off the head of a dragon.
The confrontation between the two swordsmen The fight will then be extremely violent, and the conclusion is set on one of the castle rooftops. But in the end, inevitably, it is Zoro who defeats his opponent. This event is very significant because it introduces the samurai of Wano Country. Before this, no information had been given about them, moreover Zoro receives Ryuma's sword as a reward for his victory, and one that will follow him for a very, very long time.
7. Zoro and the Sea Train

For the 7th spot on this list, we've chosen a truly badass act from Zoro. Zoro shows us his superb evolution on the Grand Line. In the’Water Seven arc. The Straw Hats are trying their best to go save Robin from the hands of CP9. The first part of the crew—Sanji, Sniper King, and Franky—is already on the same train as the enemies, and they're having fun uncoupling the cars one by one to reduce their numbers. As the second part of the crew follows them on the first train of the experimental seas, they're bound to encounter the uncoupled car. And that's when Zoro will pull out... two super badass moments. For the first one, it's yet another reference to the famous introduction of Mihawk, alone facing the wagon, he literally slices it in two with a single sword stroke, while the Puffing Tom is at full blast.
The second part of this moment comes right after, still heading towards’Enies Lobby, the train will cross TB?n, naval captain. His nickname is the "« Ship Cutter«"As a nod to Roronoa Zoro's evolution. And to do justice to this title, he also wants to settle the Sea train. But facing him is Zoro, perched on the locomotive, Like a predator, the two will clash in a fraction of a second, using their most powerful attacks. Zoro will emerge victorious from this duel, of course. These actions are often underestimated, but it's a major step on Zoro's path to the title of best swordsman in the world. Once again, he surpasses himself and learns to master techniques similar to those of Mihawk, and as a result, he gets closer to him.
6. Zoro vs. Pica

For sixth place in this top ten, we dock at Dressrosa. The crew is split into two groups; the first follows Big Mom's crew, and the other remains on the island to try and stop them. Doflamingo After God Usopp freed the toys, Doflamingo loses it and locks everyone in his birdcage using his Devil Fruit, the String Fruit or Ito Ito no Mi.
The members of the executive then fall one by one to the various pirates, and we find ourselves at the most interesting moment for our top list. Fight between Zoro and Pica. As a reminder, Pica owns the fruit of the stony allowing him to control the stone and thus create a colossal stone giant to rid himself of his enemies. Zoro is then launched at high speed towards the statue and uses, for the first time at least visually, his Armament Haki and slices through the gigantic statue in one fell swoop before it can fall on Usopp and the rest of the allies. A rather funny moment, because little Zoro is still a bit out of touch, but, you'll agree, incredibly badass nonetheless.
5. Zoro vs. Mr. 1

What better way to celebrate this number 5 than... Zoro's first major victory, The one that will earn him his first bonus? His fight against Daz Bonez, second of the Baroque Works organization and owner of sharp fruit. As a reminder, this organization led by Crocodile aimed to take Alabasta, To prevent such a thing from happening, Luffy and his crew attacked the organization, each taking on one of its key members. During this fight, Zoro was slashed from all sides and found himself backed into a corner, on the verge of death. It was then that he began to... to feel the soul of things, the stones that surround him, nature and even Daz's body.
And he finally manages to perceive his body and slice it open. This is clearly a manifestation of the . Firstly, because he senses things around him, but also because of the weaponry that she directly touches, Mr. 1, and that's what makes this moment super badass.
4. Zoro vs. Mr. 3

For fourth place in this top ten, we find ourselves on Little Garden, inhabited by the mythical Brogy and Dorry, THE two gentle giants. While Nami, Vivi, and Usopp were captured by Mr. 3 and trapped in his wax Thanks to the power of his Devil Fruit, Zoro will offer Dorry a badass, but also reckless, solution. slice off their limbs trapped in wax so that they could continue the fight.
Fortunately, they are interrupted in their actions by the arrival of Luffy. But Zoro has already begun his work, and from that day on, he has the the mark of his swords on his ankles,Imagine for a moment Zoro without his feet; he would have needed substitute legs, just like Shiki and Inuarashi, thus creating his five-sword style.
As a reminder, in the SBS of volume 91, Oda drew an old Zoro and said he would have a Five Swordsman style. Joke or reality? In any case, it makes things possible.
3. Zoro vs. Monet

For number 3 of this top list, let's go back to the New World, more specifically on the island of Punk Hazard, Known for its famous incident, its hidden laboratory, but above all for being the site of a clash between two former Marine admirals, Aokiji and Akainu, the Straw Hat crew will once again experience thrilling adventures on this island. But what interests us is Zoro's legendary confrontation against the only logia of the Don Quixote Family, And yes, we checked. The snow harpy, initially facing Tashigi, is quickly overwhelmed. Zoro then intervenes and, at first, scratches her face, proving that after two years of training, he has mastered the Armament Haki and then he will slice Monet without using her haki, but she will be so terrified by the idea of being killed by Roronoa Zoro that she will lose all her composure; one look from our favorite swordsman will be enough.
Exactly as Luffy did two years prior on Duval's mount. However, we know that this was Luffy's unawakened form of Conqueror's Haki. Is it the same as what Zoro used at that time? This would mean that it was Zoro's first known manifestation of this power. That's why he's number 3 on this list.
2. Zoro vs. Bartholomew Kuma

For the penultimate entry in this ranking, we absolutely needed a truly mind-blowing act, and while Zoro has plenty of those, this one easily deserved first place. We're once again on... Thriller Bark. THE fight against Moria has just ended and the crew is completely exhausted.
The entire Straw Hat crew was exhausted from the fighting, but Luffy is truly out of commission. Kuma, Thanks to his Devil Fruit, he then offers to let Zoro take the blows in Luffy's place. At that moment, Zoro displays unwavering determination and loyalty to protect his captain. He proudly faces this punishment and endures all the suffering Luffy has endured in his many battles. After a night of intense pain, Sanji finds him standing, his gaze fixed, his face and body covered in blood, and yet, he has only his words., Nothing happened. One can only admire him for his courage and humility.
1.
To conclude this list, what better than the very first legendary appearance of this character, his encounter with Dracule Mihawk. As a reminder, we're at the Baratie. Don Krieg's crew arrives on the restaurant boat with the intention of looting everything. He explains that he escaped from the Grand Line after a mysterious pirate sank all their ships except their galleon. And unfortunately for them, this same pirate followed them and sliced that famous galleon in two with a single blow, This scene is simply epic. Zoro immediately recognizes the one he considers to be his ultimate enemy., Hawk's Eye at that time a member of 7 Great Corsairs also called Shichibukai considered as the best swordsman in the world.
What follows is a series of epic moments, as Zoro challenges his future mentor in a duel to the death And I know that many of you really got hooked on One Piece from that moment on. Mihawk doesn't respect him, but accepts the duel; he doesn't even deign to use his gigantic sword, but a tiny dagger. Zoro is easily overpowered and the duel is lost in two minutes. He is even stabbed while using three swords.
The fight almost over, he gets up and faces his opponent, saying to him, "« Slice me from the front; a true swordsman has no marks on his back. »"And that's when it becomes so epic. Mihawk realizes Zoro's worth and" draws his legendary sword, the Kokuto Yoru which is part of 12 Saijo O Wazamono. He is about to take the most powerful sword blow in the world. And he survives.
After spending a few seconds unconscious, he wakes up and makes his magnificent promise to his captain,« I will never lose a duel again. »"And the Shichibukai encourages him, telling him to survive and to come and challenge him when he is stronger. This act is the founding moment of the The myth of Zoro, that's when he realized his weakness and the long road ahead to reach the top. That's why he's number one on this list.
A few honorable mentions
Let's mention a few special mentions, that is to say the scenes which deserved to be in this top, but which are a little less good than the others.
- Zoro slices a dragon on Punk Hazard with Ryuma's old server. As a reminder, this is the second time this sword has been used to cut down a dragon. It's very symbolic.
- Zoro almost attacked a celestial dragon Without any hesitation, he chose Sabaody. He was saved at the last second by Jewelry Bonney.
- The fight Zoro versus Kamazo the assassin, This is a very recent episode of the anime. Zoro shows us the full extent of his power; he whirls around and displays his complete ease against a samurai from Wano Country. The visual effects are incredible. It would have been third on this list, but that would have been a major spoiler.
That's it, the end of this rather lengthy list. We hope you enjoyed it and that it brought back a lot of memories.
